Hi. We’re the team behind Craft.

We make creating digital experiences a great experience.

Pixel & Tonic was founded in 2010 with a mission to help web professionals build and maintain better websites. We made a name for ourselves by creating some groundbreaking content management tools that redefined what a CMS can do.

We started working on Craft CMS in 2011, with a few core ideas that we believed would drastically improve development and authoring experiences: Element Types, Live Preview, Matrix, and a practically limitless plugin architecture.

Two years later we released Craft 1.0, and we’ve been improving it ever since, adding new content authoring features and continuing to meet the evolving needs of modern web development.

Today we’re proud to say that Craft is one of the most-used CMSes by top web agencies and web professionals around the world, and has won several awards including Best CMS for SMB, Best CMS for Developers, and Best WordPress Alternative.

Our Values

We believe in making things better.

We always try to do the right thing, and do it well. For Craft, for our community, and for the world.

We support nonprofits and education.

We contributed $50,000 to nonprofits in 2017 through donations and discounts, as well as $25,000 to the Diversity in Computer Science Scholarship at OSU. If you’re building something with Craft for a nonprofit, either gratis or at a discounted rate, let us know how we can help!

We invest in the developer community.

We make code and financial contributions to several open source projects. And we sponsor conferences and organizations that promote diversity in tech, including Elevate Women’s Summit, Design & Content Conference, Confab, Women Who Code, Girl Develop It, and Peers.
